Homicidal death in women. Analysis of the medicolegal autopsy record

Justification: Femicide is a multi-offensive crime, which in addition to direct damage, affects the family and social environment; The violent death of women constitutes the most extreme form of violence against women.
Objective: To study the characteristics of women subjected to medicolegal autopsy, whose manner of death was recorded as homicidal or pending police investigation.
Methodology: Descriptive, retrospective study of the record of autopsies carried out in the forensic offices of Tegucigalpa, San Pedro Sula and La Ceiba, during the years 2022 and 2023. The records belonging to the female sex of 14 years or older and whose manner death was classified as homicide or pending investigation.
Results: 574 records of women were analyzed, of which 386 (67%) had a homicidal manner of death and 188 (33%) were classified as pending police investigation. 61.6% of the victims were under 40 years old, with an average age of 36 years, the most used instruments of injury were firearms (43%) and knives (11%). 61.6% of the victims were under 40 years old, 41% did not graduate from high school.
Conclusion: The analysis of the registry of autopsied women whose manner of death was categorized as homicidal or pending police investigation, shows a profile characterized by being young women (average age 36 years), with low education, unemployed or underemployed, from the urban area. and that they were attacked mainly with firearms and knives.
