Miskitu political consciousness: towards a conjunctural analysis
Keywords:
Ethnic group, Multiculturalism, Political participation, Politics, ResponsibilityAbstract
This essay aims to offer a brief analysis of the situation on the Caribbean Coast of Nicaragua, based mainly on an interpretation of the Miskito political consciousness. It should be noted at the outset that the data used are incomplete. Due mainly to logistical factors, the research did not include interviews with senior Miskito leaders of the current government. (1) In order to turn this weakness into an advantage, the essay is conceived as an effort to capture the perspectives of YATAMA's grassroots and mid-level cadres.
