The article collects reflections on various experiences that we have gone through in university extension, both at the National University of Rosario and in other National Universities, focused on the evaluation of projects relevant to this substantive function. In this sense, addressing this specific issue arises based on a recent work carried out for the “II University Extension Workshop. Evaluation of University Extension Programs and Projects of REXUNE (University Extension Network of the National University of the East)”. This activity motivated the need to carry out a reflective synthesis on the experiences and learnings around the evaluation processes, and to put into words some ideas about how these instances could be rethought in the national universities. In short, this article seeks to contribute to the strengthening and consolidation of the evaluation processes of the extension function (activities, projects and programs), based on the need to rethink and transform traditional formats in pursuit of new ones that are better suited to the specific characteristics of these territorial experiences.
