The contributions of this article reflect the experience
of a brief process of participatory action research with
an important component of sociocultural animation
in the framework of university social extension
work. Rescue the logic of the diagnostic, planning
and execution stages of an experience carried out
with young people from the Municipal House of the
Adolescent of the city of Juigalpa in Chontales, a
program of the historical and socio-cultural heritage
of the mayor’s office of citizen power that depends
directly on the area of planning since 1998. Currently
has a total of 25 active adolescents in the program,
from families with socio-family difficulties. From a
diagnostic insertion the need arises for an action plan
to strengthen the self-esteem of young people trying
to involve their parents, guardians and promoters
of the program. We call this idea a socio-educational
intervention project: “Strengthening of self-esteem
in young people of the adolescent’s municipal house,
Juigalpa-Chontales, through music therapy”. The
experience concludes that through the proposal of
sociocultural animation developed, both young people
and promoters, fathers and mothers rescue the
importance of working on self-esteem and empower
themselves with techniques of music therapy for the
management and improvement of it in their personal
lives In addition, to recognize the need to continue
university-society ties.
