Abstract

This article aims to show a reflection on the strategic role that the Nicaraguan public university plays, through university extension, with respect to the care of people with disabilities in their educational communities, as a strategy to carry out policy action national public services for this segment of the population. It starts first with the initiatives that the United Nations Organization has carried out at the international level, to propose solutions for this social sector, a foundation on which Nicaraguan legislation has generated a legal framework and solid public policies, which serve as a benchmark so that public universities can direct concrete actions in the effective application of national policies. It is identified that in Nicaraguan public universities, through university extension, various activities and action protocols have been carried out in this regard, overcoming merely temporary actions, and establishing permanent care proposals for people with disabilities, in which all members of the educational community can be committed on all possible fronts, helping to make the corresponding national policies effective.         care proposals for people with disabilities, in which all members of the educational community can be committed on all possible fronts, helping to make the corresponding national policies effective.
