This article presents an analysis of the factors that affecting the management of the English language teaching-learning process at Bluefield’s Indian & Caribbean University (BICU). The study arose from the need to respond to the factors that affect students regarding their limited proficiency in English as a second language, which would allow them to function in their work area; consequently, its objective is to analyze the factors that contribute to the management process of learning the language. The study was conducted from a qualitative approach, based on symbolic interactionism, integrating a quantitative technique. Interviews were conducted with academic authorities, focus groups were developed with students and teaching staff, and a survey was administered to students. The academic index was also analyzed, as well as student motivation, teacher training, and the didactic strategies implemented. The results evidenced that students learners pass English courses with limited proficiency in the language. It was identified that the methodology of the teachers affects the learning of the English language; most teachers require training from specialists. The study concluded that the university requires an educational management model that allows for the continuous training of teaching staff, taking into account interculturality and multilingualism; as well as an improvement in the provision of teaching resources aimed at developing competencies in students across the four dimensions of learning: listening comprehension,
oral expression, reading comprehension and written expression.
